City of Brentwood Deploys 57 Avive Connect AED®s, Expanding Access to Lifesaving Technology Across City Buildings and Police

Brentwood, CA, October 16, 2025 — The City of Brentwood, CA has partnered with Avive Solutions, Inc. to expand and modernize its automated external defibrillator (AED) program with the deployment of 57 new Avive Connect AED®s. The AEDs have been installed across city facilities and law enforcement patrol vehicles in an effort to strengthen city-wide access to lifesaving technology and improve survival from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Each year, more than 350,000 people in the U.S. experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, where up to 70% of these emergencies happen in the home. Law enforcement officers are often the first to arrive on scene of an emergency. When equipped with an AED, they are in aposition to deliver rapid, lifesaving care in the earliest, yet most crucial minutes following a cardiac arrest. For every minute that a person is in cardiac arrest without CPR or a shock from an AED, their likelihood of survival decreases by 7-10%, underscoring the need for immediate intervention.

The rollout, led by Ashley Sosa, Human Resources Analyst, Sergeant Joshua Flynn, and Lieutenant Miguel Aguiar of the Brentwood Police Department, advances the city’s approach to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest management while reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of employees, residents, and visitors alike.

“With the advancement of technology and efficiency of the Avive AEDs, officers have the power in their hands to increase the rate of survivability,“ said Lieutenant Aguiar.

The Avive Connect AED is designed to be intuitive for anyone to use, and its advanced connectivity capabilities notify 911 when in use, helping to streamline emergency response. The device has universal electrode pads which make it safe for use on both children and adults, offers bilingual instructions with an Español button, and guides rescuers step-by-step with audio and video prompts. The device’s approachable design is meant to reduce the intimidation often associated with AEDs and empower bystanders to step up and take action when emergencies occur.

The deployment of Avive devices also streamlines AED program oversight, allowing the City of Brentwood’s program manager to receive daily health checks, alerts when and if the devices need attention, and real-time notifications in the event of an emergency. As part of the launch event, city employees were trained on the new defibrillators by members of Avive’s team.
